COURSE DESCRIPTION

 

To provide hazardous materials responders with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to safely respond to hazardous materials emergencies while protecting personnel, the public, property, and the environment, this Site-Specific 24-Hour Hazardous Materials Technician Training course prepares emergency responders to safely and effectively respond to hazardous materials incidents involving releases or potential releases of hazardous materials, substances, and wastes encountered at their facility.

Employees will develop competencies necessary to identify hazardous materials, analyze incidents, perform defensive and offensive control actions, implement site-specific emergency procedures, utilize and operate monitoring equipment, perform decontamination operations, take command, and operate within the Incident Command System (ICS).

This course incorporates site-specific hazards, facility business emergency response plans, hazardous materials inventories, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
