Description
This online course focuses on cartridge/filter type respirators used in the workplace to protect employee health. The course provides an overview of the California Occupational Safety and Health Administration Respiratory Protection requirements found in Title 8 California Code of Regulations Section 5144. General requirements including the respiratory protection administrator, written program, respirator selection, training and recordkeeping are discussed. Detailed information is provided on the need and value of medical evaluations, fit testing, and care/maintenance of respirators. More specific concepts relating to negative pressure elastomeric cartridge/filter respirators are reviewed including selection of air purifying elements, user seal checks and detailed inspections and maintenance.
Audience: Class is valuable for employees (and their supervisors) who wear negative pressure elastomeric cartridge/filter respirators. The class provides information on respiratory protection and assists the employer in meeting the training requirement.
