What is HAZWOPER?

HAZWOPER is an acronym for
Hazardous
Waste
Operations and
Emergency
Response. It refers to many types of hazardous waste operations and emergency response conducted in the United States under Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
Standard 1910.12 “Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response.”

About the 40hr Hazwoper

The 40 hour program focuses on the training required for all personnel before they can enter a hazardous waste site, Superfund site, or RCRA site. This also applies to clean-up operations
at buisnesses and industries which handle hazardous materials and hazardous wastes. A certificate of completion is issued to those who pass the exam on the final day. Annual refresher training is required.
