Site-Specific Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Training

This SPCC training is designed for employees, supervisors, contractors, and applicable personnel who work around oil or petroleum products, oil-containing equipment, storage areas, transfer operations, inspection activities, or spill response procedures addressed by the client’s facility SPCC Plan and site-specific procedures.

The course provides an overview of SPCC requirements, oil and petroleum spill hazards, spill prevention practices, secondary containment, storm drain protection, inspection considerations, spill recognition, reporting procedures, and initial response actions. Site-specific information is incorporated through the client’s facility SPCC Plan, SOPs, equipment, oil storage areas, transfer operations, spill response procedures, and internal notification requirements, as provided by the client.

Training topics may include aboveground storage tanks, diesel fuel tanks, emergency generator tanks, hydraulic oil reservoirs, lubrication oil storage, waste oil containers, oil-filled transformers, mobile equipment fuel tanks, pumps, compressors, hoses, valves, secondary containment systems, transfer areas, storm drains, and other oil-containing systems or materials identified in the client’s facility SPCC Plan or site-specific procedures.

The training includes knowledge checks, course review questions, and a written exam. For 6-hour courses, table top exercises are also included, consisting of a group spill response and drain protection exercise.

Site-specific training content is based on the client’s facility SPCC Plan, SOPs, procedures, and facility information provided to NATEC International, Inc. prior to training.

• Support spill prevention efforts for oil and petroleum products addressed by the client’s facility SPCC Plan.
• Recognize oil storage areas, petroleum storage areas, transfer areas, and spill-prone locations.
• Identify common spill pathways, including storm drains, drainage ditches, soil, groundwater, and surface waters.
• Report leaks, spills, damaged containment, or other concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Follow facility procedures for initial spill recognition, notification, drain protection, and containment actions.
• Use spill response equipment only within the limits of their training, job duties, and employer direction.
• Support routine inspection and documentation activities as assigned by the employer.
• Support facility compliance of the SPCC program, EPA SPCC requirements, and California APSA-related requirements.
