Training, led by a qualified/competent person, encompasses a blend of classroom learning and hands-on practice, emphasizing scaffold safety, inspection, design, and loading.

Course Objectives/Module (order may change): 

  • Module One: Competent Person training, covering scaffold regulations and assembly procedures. Understand OSHA scaffolding regulations. Recognize scaffold related hazards and how to mitigate them. Learn the use and limitations of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Fall Arrest Systems in scaffold contexts. Respond effectively to emergency situations involving scaffolds.  Gain insight into the roles and responsibilities regarding scaffold safety.
  • Module Two: Inspection training. Be able to inspect scaffolds for safety compliance before use.
  • Module Three: Basics of Scaffold Design & Loading, including size determination and load capacity. Understand scaffold design principles and load capacities.
  • Module Four: Practical Hands-On Erection and Dismantling of scaffolds. Learn recommended assembly and disassembly procedures.
  • Module Five: Written Exam

Course Requirements: 

To successfully complete the course, participants must engage in hands-on training specific to the type of scaffold they will be working with, which will be customized accordingly. A written evaluation will also be required to pass the course, ensuring a comprehensive understanding and the ability to apply the knowledge and skills learned.
