This Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) safety training is designed for authorized employees who perform servicing or maintenance activities where the unexpected release of hazardous energy could occur, in accordance with Cal/OSHA Title 8 requirements.
The course provides instruction on hazardous energy recognition, regulatory terminology, and the purpose of lockout/tagout programs. Participants are trained on employee roles and responsibilities, the use of written energy control procedures, and the general lockout/tagout process used to control electrical, mechanical, and stored energy hazards.
Training includes an overview of lockout, tagout, block-out, and group lockout devices, as well as requirements for applying, maintaining, and removing lockout/tagout devices. Additional topics address verification of energy isolation, continuity of protection during shift or personnel changes, periodic inspection of procedures, retraining requirements, and controlled lock removal when the authorized employee who applied the lock is unavailable.
Knowledge checks are included to reinforce understanding of key concepts. This training provides general instruction and does not replace site- or equipment-specific lockout/tagout procedures or authorization.
