Course Description: 

NATEC International, Inc.’s Confined Space Rescue Initial Course is an intensive three-day program designed to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge for performing basic rescues in confined spaces. This course covers a range of critical topics, including identification of permit required and non-permit confined spaces, understanding the hazards associated with these spaces, and detailed instruction on the equipment and procedures necessary for safe and effective rescue operations.

Objective:

To train participants in the fundamentals and techniques of confined space rescue, including compliance with both California and Federal OSHA regulations, and to ensure proficiency in emergency rescue procedures and the use of specialized rescue equipment.

Topics Covered:

  • Overview of permit-required and non-permit confined spaces
  • Hazards associated with confined spaces and how to mitigate them
  • Review of Cal/Fed OSHA regulations pertaining to confined spaces
  • Use and maintenance of air monitoring instrumentation
  • Key positions and duties within a rescue team
  • Training in personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Effective communication strategies and equipment use in rescue operations
  • Components of a rescue operation including planning and execution
  • Hands-On Training with Rescue Equipment
  • Confined space entry equipment and checklist procedures

  • Written examination to assess understanding, requiring a minimum passing score of 70%
