NATEC International, Inc. offers a powerful, one-day, in-person Bucket Truck Operator Safety Course that equips students with the knowledge and skills required to operate bucket trucks safely and in full compliance with Cal/OSHA regulations. This course blends classroom learning with hands-on exercises, providing operators with real-world experience and confidence in the field.
Who Should Attend
- New or existing bucket truck operators
- Construction, utility, or telecommunication workers
- Employees working at elevation using vehicle-mounted aerial devices
Prerequisites (Required to Attend)
- Current Fall Protection Authorized User certification (or higher)
(Must be valid and issued by a recognized training provider at the time of training)
Course Topics Include:
Classroom Instruction (Approx. 4 Hours)
- Introduction to Bucket Trucks
– Equipment types, components, and controls - Cal/OSHA Requirements
– Title 8 §2940.7 (Personal Protective Grounding)
– Title 8 §3638 (Elevating Work Platforms)
– ANSI A92.2 overview - Safe Operation and Best Practices
– Pre-use inspections
– Load limits and balance
– Hazard identification and avoidance
– Ground conditions and stability - Fall Protection Procedures (*This is not a Fall Protection Authorized User Course)
– Proper harness use and anchor points
– Emergency descent and recovery methods
Hands-On Training (Approx. 4 Hours)
- Pre-operation inspections
- Safe truck positioning and bucket maneuvering
- Proper fall protection use
- Controlled practice scenarios
- Emergency response simulation
Certification
- Participants must complete a written test and hands-on evaluation to demonstrate competency
- Certificate of Completion issued for students who successfully pass
- Certificate valid for 3 years (company-specific refresher may be recommended sooner depending on jobsite conditions or incident history)
Client Site Requirements
- Provide a well-maintained, inspected bucket truck
- Designate a training area free of pedestrian traffic, overhead obstructions, or electrical hazards
- Ensure all participants have personal protective equipment (PPE), including fall protection gear
