Hazardous Materials Industry Technician Initial 24 Hr - CFR 1910.120(q)(6)(iii)

Duration: 24 hours

Target Audience:

Individuals preparing to become Hazardous Materials Technicians, ready to respond actively to hazardous materials incidents.

Course Description:

This comprehensive 24-hour training course is tailored for those aiming to become Hazardous Materials Technicians. As per the specifications of 1910.120(q)(6)(iii), these technicians play a crucial role in responding to hazardous materials releases with the intention of halting them. Unlike first responders at the operations level, technicians adopt a more proactive stance, moving closer to the release point to undertake actions such as patching, plugging, or employing other techniques to prevent further release of hazardous substances.

The course ensures that participants receive a minimum of 24 hours of rigorous training that is on par with the first responder operations level, further enhancing their competency in handling hazardous materials incidents.

Prerequisites:

To be eligible for this training, participants must have previously completed a 24 HR First Responder Operations (FRO) course.
